Ha Noi Semiconductor Investment Festival opens

The Ha Noi Semiconductor Investment Festival was launched on July 29, representing Viet Nam’s growing appeal to global semiconductor giants from the U.S., the Republic of Korea, Japan and Europe.

The event was co-hosted by the Ha Noi Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, the municipal Department of Information and Communications, the Viet Nam Software & IT Services Association (VINASA), Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park management board and the Ha Noi University of Science and Technology (HUST).

Nguyen Tran Quang, Deputy Director of the center, underscored the sector's critical role in the digital economy and the influx of foreign interest.

The recently enacted Capital Law solidifies the city's commitment to the industry, designating semiconductor as a strategic investment priority.

Ha Noi's strong economic performance, with nearly US$1.17 billion in foreign investment during the first half, further bolsters its attractiveness.

Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Viet Hung outlined Ha Noi's ambition to become a regional semiconductor and AI design and supply leader.

He detailed a package of incentives for investors, including exemptions on land and water surface lease fees, preferential corporate and personal income taxes, waiver of certain criteria in the evaluation of prequalification documents, tender submissions, and contractor capability and experience when bidding for city contracts.

The festival is aimed at organizing meetings with associations, businesses and investors operating in the semiconductor industry and investing and trading in products belonging to the semiconductor and high-tech industry ecosystem in Ha Noi and other provinces.

The city authorities will take this occasion to introduce the development, orientation and solutions to boost the development and cooperation of semiconductor industry firms in Ha Noi, as well as connect and promote investment and trade in this field and products belonging to the semiconductor and high-tech industry ecosystem.

A series of conferences will be held during the festival, focusing on potential and challenges in attracting foreign investment into the semiconductor industry in Ha Noi, developing human resources for the semiconductor industry, and building the semiconductor ecosystem in Ha Noi.
