Dr. Vu Tien Loc Has Passed Away

Dr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC), former President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), passed away at the age of 64 on the morning of August 5, 2024.

Mr. Loc, born in 1960 in Thuy Phong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, holds a PhD degree in economics and senior political theory. As a National Assembly deputy, he has held many positions in the professional committees of the National Assembly. He is a current National Assembly member of the 15th tenure.

He was the President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 2003 to 2021.

He was elected National Assembly Member for the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th terms, Member of the Economic and Budgetary Committee of the 11th National Assembly, Member of the Economic Committee of the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th National Assembly, and Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC).

He was appointed to various positions such as Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement, Vice Chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform, Chairman of the Vietnam Public-Private Partnership Committee, Chairman of the Central Council of Vietnam Business Associations, and Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum Alliance (VBF).

In addition, Mr. Loc was Chairman of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development, Chairman of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), Chairman of the Vietnam National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), Member of the Executive Board of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce (WFC), Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Provincial Competitiveness Improvement Project (PCI), Chairman of the Steering Committee for the National Startup Program, and Editor-in-Chief of the Diễn đàn Doanh nghiệp (Business Forum) Newspaper among other positions.

The funeral of Mr. Vu Tien Loc will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on August 8, 2024 at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi. The memorial service will take place on the same day at 3:00 p.m. Cremation will be held at the Hoan Vu Crematorium, Van Dien, Thanh Tri, Hanoi.

The funeral at his hometown, Dong Ho village, Thuy Phong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on August 9, 2024. The burying ceremony will start at 3:00 p.m on the same day in Dong Ho Cemetery, Thuy Phong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province.
