Ha Noi possesses various spaces for the night economy mostly in Hoan Kiem, Ba Đình, and Tay Ho districts.
Though it scored a certain growth rate recently, Hà Nội's night economy has not yet developed.
The income from tourism and the rate of a tourist paying in Ha Noi have remained low due to the lack of services after 12am.
Tourists' demands for services, entertainment, and art at night is huge, not only surrounding pedestrian zones, night market, karaoke, discotheques or snack bars."
Turning Ha Noi into a safe, bustling, attractive and unique destination with night-time economic trademark is a main content in the Politburo's Conclusion No. 80-KL/TU on the planning of Ha Noi in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, and a project to adjust the Master Plan for Ha Noi Capital to 2045, vision to 2065.
The conclusion underlines the need to develop typical night-time economic models for each area in the city, building the capital city’s night-time trademark, and affirming Ha Noi’s competitiveness compared to other regional and international destinations.
It points to the need to make full use of Ha Noi’s advantages in lakes and rivers, especially the West Lake, Red River, Duong River, and To Lich River, while defining the development reserve areas for future generations.
The Politburo asked the city to arrange and allocate suitable spaces for the development of cultural industries and entertainment industries, turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, with priority given to preserving, exploiting and promoting major cultural spaces such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel connecting with Ba Dinh district, the Old Quarter linked with Long Bien district, Co Loa relic complex, Duong Lam ancient village, and a number of traditional craft villages. At the same time, it is also necessary to construct new, modern, unique, and typical cultural works symbolising the city in the new era.
In 2024, Ha Noi aims to attract 25.5 million visitors, including 4.5 million international visitors, generating a revenue of about VND94.41 trillion (US$3.9 billion).
