Situated at the heart of the Mekong Delta, the strategically located general port of VIMC Hau Giang is a trade hub between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta Key Economic Zone (Can Tho City, Hau Giang, Kien Giang and An Giang provinces) and between Cambodia and Mekong Delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. This is also a place to store, preserve and transport input materials for industrial zones; a gathering point for goods from industrial production centers to be distributed domestically and internationally through road and waterway systems.

VIMC Hau Giang Port meets criteria of Category 5 Port for handling cargo and capably deploys the maritime service system to form a modern, dynamic maritime and port service area. In 2021, VIMC Hau Giang Port handled 820,000 tons of cargo and 7,120 TEUs, and raked in revenue of VND53,660 billion.

In addition, the port helps boost development of supporting industries and industrial production, increase revenue for the State budget and create a driving force for socioeconomic development of Hau Giang province.

Right from the start of 2020 to date, especially in 2021, due to COVID-19 pandemic impacts, the company's operations have been severely affected. But with the firm leadership of the company and particularly collective effort of all employees, its business performance met the target. Jobs, wages, livelihoods and welfare of all employees were guaranteed. In particular, business activity was always linked with COVID-19 epidemic prevention.

Fostering digital transformation

To assert its role and position, coupled with aspirations to become a leading domestic and international trade gateway in the region, VIMC Hau Giang has constantly reformed and developed in a diversified, modern and professional manner to provide best port services and connect operations along the logistics chain.

To achieve this goal, in addition to Wharf 1, Wharf 2 and Kirov gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 12.5 tons, in 2020, Hau Giang Port launched a Macgregor gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 45 tons at Wharf 1, helping improve its stevedoring capacity and boost its service for bigger vessels. At the same time, it has helped reduce the time to release ships and cargo, improve customer service quality, and maximize its strengths and potential.

Beside infrastructure construction and equipment investment according to its development strategy, VIMC Hau Giang has accelerated comprehensive modernization and digital transformation over the past time; applied information technology software to enhance work performance and bring satisfaction to partners and customers.
