Vietnam, Laos Enhance Business Ties

On April 24, Mr. Pham Tan Cong, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), welcomed Mr. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Laos, to discuss enhancing cooperation and sharing experiences between the two countries' business sectors.

During the meeting, Minister Kommasith lauded VCCI's pivotal role in fostering strong business ties between Vietnam and Laos. He expressed particular interest in understanding VCCI's operations, including its membership attraction strategies and membership criteria.

Mr. Cong detailed VCCI's efforts in international trade promotion, support for enterprises, and involvement in international cooperative projects. He highlighted VCCI's advisory role in policymaking to ensure a transparent, equitable and secure business climate in Vietnam.

Moreover, Mr. Cong outlined VCCI’s initiatives to aid various business groups, including SMEs, women-owned businesses, and startups, and noted the introduction of ethical business guidelines in 2022 to promote business ethics.

Both parties committed to further strengthen ties between VCCI and its Lao counterpart to facilitate business expansion and investment in both countries. Minister Kommasith assured that he would relay the insights gained to the Prime Minister of Laos for potential implementation in Laos.
