By prioritizing resources and carrying out many consistent solutions to assist local enterprises to deal with difficulties and boost production and business capacity, capture opportunities, seek and expand markets, the industry and trade sector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has helped ensure production stability and create a solid position for economic development.

COVID-19 pandemic that broke out in the past two years has profoundly affected the socioeconomic performance of the whole country, including Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. Being in the epicenter of the fourth COVID-19 outbreak, the province effectively carried out measures to prevent, combat and control the plague; actively made safe, flexible adaptations to and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic to foster socioeconomic development; maintain growth in 2021; and continued to be a safe and attractive destination for many domestic and foreign investors.
The new period has brought favorable opportunities but many difficulties and challenges are still standing in the way, especially the COVID-19 epidemic, which is still evolving very complicatedly and unpredictably. Therefore, in order to increase support for enterprises to restore their operations, the industry and trade sector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has come up with focused and timely solutions.
Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade has actively worked out and carried out a plan for supply and demand of essential goods for people on public holidays, especially when the COVID-19 epidemic broke out again; regularly supported companies and cooperatives inside and outside the province to introduce, promote and sell agricultural and aquatic products in the province. The department has strengthened e-commerce development and application, expanded modern distribution systems, encouraged supermarkets, trade centers, and retail store chains to increase the supply of essential goods through e-commerce platforms to serve people.
The department has also strengthened coordination in organizing trade activities; supported enterprises, cooperatives and business households to participate in online trade promotion programs; connected commodity supply and demand, fairs and exhibitions in the digital environment to introduce products, especially agricultural products.
In particular, the agency has intensified support for enterprises to apply e-commerce to import and export; exploited potential of cross-border e-commerce in order to introduce, promote and export products with locally competitive advantages; connected domestic manufacturers and exporters with large and reputable foreign e-commerce platforms.
The department has further provided support for enterprises to utilize free trade agreements and implemented the plan adopted by the Provincial People's Committee to enforce trade agreements such as EVFTA (Vietnam - EU FTA), UKVFTA (Vietnam - UK FTA) and CPTPP. It has regularly contacted and exchanged information with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to capture information about markets, merchandise import and export needs to assist local exporters.
At the same time, it has closely monitored market developments, grasped production, distribution and consumption of goods, figured out specific difficulties and problems, and understood challenging practices faced by enterprises in order to have solutions to remove or propose to competent authorities to remove difficulties and obstacles in import, export and trading.
