Tue Lam High-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd has successfully regenerated genetic resources, planted and replicated a precious herb, Bo Chinh ginseng, on the sunny and windy land of Quang Binh province. This achievement has provided new opportunities for farmers to change their farming models, grow profits and respond to climate change.

The sunny and windy arid soil at the foot of the majestic Truong Son Mountain Range is now filled with a crimson color of Bo Chinh ginseng flowers. Bo Chinh ginseng, also known as Tho Hao ginseng, belongs to the malvaceae family. Its name originated from the only place it was grown with the best quality - Bo Chinh district (present-day Bo Trach and Quang Trach districts of Quang Binh province). Currently, Vietnam has 21 types of ginseng, including 12 types of precious ginseng, but only Bo Chinh ginseng belongs to the Araliaceae family. In ancient times, Bo Chinh ginseng was used as a valuable medicine only for royal families. For many reasons, this plant disappeared for nearly 300 years.

From the desire to bring back Bo Chinh ginseng, in 2017, Tue Lam High-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd was determined to embark on research and cooperation with various scientists to successfully restore genetic resources, test planting and scale up this precious crop on the native land of Quang Binh province. The company boldly invested in the Project on “building a chain link of planting, processing and consuming Bo Chinh ginseng in Quang Binh province”. The company signed contracts to buy all products from farmers, built processing factories furnished with modern equipment to make high-quality products; and combined with good product marketing and promotion to ensure output for farmers.

In 2019, Tue Lam High-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd cooperated with local farmers to plant more than 35 ha of Bo Chinh ginseng in Bo Trach district and added 17 ha along the road to Phong Nha heritage land, Quang Binh province. This area is equipped with automatic watering systems imported from Turkey, and applies international standards of planting, tending and harvesting to create the quality and reasonable price of Bo Chinh ginseng, which is very good for human health. At the same time, Bo Chinh ginseng genetic resources are conserved and developed under the forest canopy of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.

According to test results by SGS, a Swiss independent international testing center, Bo Chinh ginseng contains many valuable and healthy active ingredients such as saponins that function to prevent some cancers, stimulate natural immunity; phytosterols that help regulate blood pressure; omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9 fatty acids that help prevent cardiovascular diseases and heal respiratory diseases; and calcium and iron that help strengthen bones and improve stature. Especially, this is the only ginseng in the world that contains 35- 40% mucus that effectively prevents aging and strengthens bones.

According to statistics, one hectare can produce more than five tons of Bo Chinh ginseng. Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, a ginseng grower, said he had planted 0.5 ha of Bo Chinh ginseng and earned a profit of nearly VND110 million last year. Besides, Bo Chinh ginseng is a climate-resilient crop and a breadwinner for local people. The effect of the crop adoption has proved the right choice of authorities and farmers in Quang Binh and provided an opportunity for Bo Chinh ginseng of Tue Lam Company to further affirm its position and brand name.

Bo Chinh ginseng products are professionally processed, packaged and designed. Currently, Tue Lam has nearly 20 Bo Chinh ginseng showrooms across the country.

Bo Chinh ginseng of Tue Lam has been successfully revived and grown. This is not simply an agricultural model and a plant, but also an expression of the desire to gradually turn it into a national ginseng and make Vietnamese ginseng on par with its Korean counterpart, and export Vietnamese ginseng worldwide.
