PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Launches US$90M Plant in Ha Nam, Celebrates 30 Years of Growth

PepsiCo Foods Vietnam has officially commenced construction of its state-of-the-art snack manufacturing plant in Ha Nam Province, Vietnam.

This 90 million-USD investment signifies PepsiCo Foods Vietnam’s unwavering commitment to the Vietnamese market and coincides with the company's 30th anniversary in the country. Spanning 8 hectares, the new facility is set to become a cornerstone of PepsiCo's operations in Vietnam, with an annual production capacity of over 20,000 tons of snacks.

Celebrating a milestone in Vietnam

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper, Chairman of Ha Nam People’s Committee Truong Quoc Huy, key business partners, and senior leaders from PepsiCo Foods Asia-Pacific. This event underscores PepsiCo Foods Vietnam's strong partnership with the Vietnamese Government, showcasing how foreign investment can support national development goals.

Commitment to sustainability and growth

The new plant represents PepsiCo Foods Vietnam's strategic expansion to meet increasing consumer demand and strengthen its market presence. This milestone in PepsiCo's growth in Vietnam is expected to significantly contribute to the country's socio-economic development. PepsiCo Foods Vietnam aims to help Vietnamese farmers adopt sustainable practices through its PepsiCo Positive (pep+) strategy, targeting 100% sustainable sourcing and promoting regenerative agriculture by 2030.

"This investment is a testament to our confidence in Vietnam's dynamic economy and its people," said Nguyen Viet Ha, General Manager of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam. "As we celebrate 30 years in Vietnam, we're not just building a factory but reinforcing our commitment to sustainable growth, community development, and innovation."

Advancing local economic and community development

The Ha Nam plant exemplifies PepsiCo's proactive approach to sustainability. Utilizing biomass and solar power, the facility aims to minimize its environmental impact, including implementing rooftop solar panels and biomass systems to generate electricity from local agricultural waste.

The new plant is anticipated to serve as a driving force for community development, extending beyond its economic and social impact. It is projected to create numerous job opportunities in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and agriculture, thereby boosting the local economy. Once operational the plant would generate over 1,000 jobs in direct and indirect employment.

Additionally, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam will introduce a comprehensive program to equip Ha Nam's youth with essential soft skills for contemporary industrial environments in collaboration with the Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs of Ha Nam. This initiative, named "Elevating the Skills and Labor Quality of Ha Nam's Youth," funded by the PepsiCo Foundation, will provide training in vital areas such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital literacy.

PepsiCo Foods Vietnam is partnering with the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, local agriculture cooperatives & farmers to implement regenerative agricultural practices, enhancing soil health, reducing carbon emissions, and maximizing crop yields. This initiative underscores PepsiCo Foods Vietnam's leadership in promoting sustainability and community development in Ha Nam and beyond.

Speaking at the ceremony to congratulate PepsiCo on the event, Mr. Truong Quoc Huy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province stated, "The groundbreaking ceremony of the new factory of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam in Ha Nam would help the province gradually actualize its goal of becoming a modern industrial province by 2025 through a modern & sustainable factory using renewable energy, improving the quality of labor in the area." At the same time, the province also wants to effectively utilize favorable conditions in terms of climate and land for growing clean agricultural crops, developing high-tech agriculture, and bringing great economic efficiency. "We are ready to fully support the enterprise so that the construction of the factory, the development of industrial economy, agriculture and assisting services will be favorable, bringing benefits to the enterprise, Ha Nam province and Vietnam."

"Our vision for this plant goes beyond production capacity," Mr. Ha emphasized. "It's about creating a sustainable ecosystem that benefits our consumers, partners, and the environment. We aim to cultivate a better community of shared values and sustainability leadership."
