Violent fluctuations in the labor market this year have made it difficult for workers to find a job, especially a new one. Therefore, to support outgoing high school students and tertiary students in Kien Giang province, Kien Giang Employment Service Center has intensified its coordination to provide job counseling, career orientation and job placement for prospective graduates.
Career Counseling, Job Introduction and Career Orientation Day for students at An Minh High School, Kien Giang province
Kien Giang province has many universities, colleges and intermediate vocational schools, which train students in Kien Giang and neighboring provinces. Every year, students' demand for new jobs is very high.
Especially since the beginning of this year, many domestic companies have cut their staff and tightened the labor market. As an "employment bridge" for workers and businesses, Kien Giang Employment Service Center has adopted many solutions to support, advise, orient and connect to introduce jobs to students who are about to graduate in the province.
Thus, right from the start of the year, the center worked out an action plan, with its contacts with schools and localities to jointly organize career counseling, job introduction and career orientation days. Many businesses in Kien Giang province and other provinces seeking to recruit new workers responded to and participated in these events.
For example, the events for high school students in Hon Dat and An Minh districts and the events for graduating students at Kien Giang Technical and Professional Vocational School were responded to by students and businesses.

In these activities, with the advice and introduction of center staff and businesses, students had the opportunity to access businesses, positions and jobs suitable to their capacity and professional expertise. On the other hand, job counseling helped students who were about to enter the labor market for the first time with a clear and suitable orientation for their upcoming careers.
Besides, many other activities such as support for writing CVs, short internships, job search and recruitment information were also popularly integrated to further interest students.
| Effective Implementation of Unemployment Insurance Policy In addition to its regular tasks of consulting, job introduction and labor export, in recent years, Kien Giang Labor Service Center has also focused on solving overdue unemployment insurance benefit payments; and supporting training and job introduction for unemployed workers to return to the labor market. Accordingly, the center has rationally allocated its employees, simplified procedures, and received application forms via the National Public Service Portal; and communicated unemployment insurance policies and guided procedures to employees on social networks and websites. As a result, by May 15, 2023, the center received 5,102 unemployment insurance claims and provided 4,250 jobs, including 415 new jobs. |
Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung, Director of Kien Giang Employment Service Center, said: Since the beginning of 2023, the center has coordinated in organizing 12 job counseling and job placement days with the participation of 54 enterprises, 6,566 workers and 3,386 students.
“In the current context, organizing career orientation, job counseling and job introduction is of great significance and helps students to feel confident before they graduate. At the same time, it helps them make right and timely choices when they enter the labor market and stabilize their lives later," he emphasized.
