Carrying out the Ministry of Health’s Decision 2151 dated May 4, 2015 on “Changing the service manner and attitude of health workers for patient satisfaction, Hoa Binh General Hospital has adopted many solutions to build a beautiful image, satisfy patients and affirm its leadership in the local health sector.
Improving professional capacity
Hoa Binh General Hospital is the first grade hospital administered by the Hoa Binh Department of Health. It was designed to have 686 beds but it installed 1,035 beds in practice. To work well, the hospital launched a business development strategy that aimed for patient satisfaction. In high-quality personnel training, it now has three PhDs, 15 masters, 23 junior specialists, 62 senior specialists and 76 general practitioners. By end 2020, over 60% of department directors/deputy directors will obtain the degree of senior specialist or doctorate, and over 70% of doctors will attain the postgraduate degree. The hospital also focuses on training in foreign languages, computer skills, politics and professional ethics. In 2018-2019, there was a significant decline in patient referrals.
In 2019, Hoa Binh General Hospital continued to reform administrative procedures at the Disease Examination Department to reduce trouble for patients. The hospital effectively examined and treated diseases for the poor, policy beneficiaries and children. Specifically, it examined and treated diseases for 953 poor patients, nearly 2,791 policy beneficiaries and over 4,633 children. Clinical departments received, examined and treated patients in the shortest time.
Many high-quality medical examination and treatment services and new advanced techniques have been applied in the hospital, including one-lung anesthesia in thoracic surgery, airway pressure release ventilation (APRV), continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH) for patients with multiple organ dysfunction, plasma exchange in Guillain - Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis, spinal implant surgery, micro-neurosurgery, laparoscopic pulmonary adhesion surgery, arthroscopic surgery, endoscopic atrial defect closure surgery, lung biopsy guided by CT-scanner, laser dermatological treatment, and eye socket fracture surgery. In the first six months of 2019, the hospital conducted 66,873 examinations and treated 17,838 patients. The bed occupancy rate was 95%. 4,531 patients underwent surgery, 10% more than the same period of 2018.
Doing good social security
In addition to well performing political and professional tasks, Hoa Binh General Hospital always pays attention to social security, especially in rural, remote and isolated areas. The hospital established a Social Security Group 2015 under the Quality Control Department to support patients and their family members coming from poor, remote or isolated communes to quickly access medical services, economic and psychological support.
To promote its achievements, the hospital will further improve medical examination and treatment; improve the green - clean - beautiful environment for patient satisfaction; and operate Internal Medicine and Infection Control Building. This is one of its remarkable projects in 2020. From this building, the hospital set up many new specialist departments, including Cardiovascular Intervention Unit where cardiovascular intervention techniques are performed under instruction and handover from central experts; established the new Department of Gastroenterology where endoscopic gastrointestinal diagnosis and intervention techniques are performed; formed Active External Resuscitation Unit to promote postoperative analgesia services, develop on-demand medical examination and treatment services; strengthened and developed stroke treatment techniques and activated the hospital-wide red alert system in emergency service. These are prerequisites for new development breakthroughs to build a comprehensive general hospital and affirm its leadership in the health sector of Hoa Binh province.
