Westfood Hau Giang Factory, invested by Western Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company (Westfood) and scheduled for construction commencement in June 2022, will add Hau Giang to the list of provinces with European-standard agricultural export processing factories.
The project will be built on 70,000 square meters in Song Hau Industrial Park, Dong Phu commune, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province, with an estimated investment cost of VND500 billion. This location is considered the hub of raw materials of the Mekong Delta.
Construction on the project is expected to be completed in 18 months. After going into operation, it will process 80,000 tons of raw materials a year, sourced locally. Once completed, this will be the largest agricultural product processor in Hau Giang province.
Westfood Hau Giang Factory will have a total of four IQF processing lines, four canning lines, one coconut jelly line, one primary drying line and one juice line. All its products meet the strictest standards of Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea such as FSSC 22000, FDA, KOSHER, BRC, HALAL and FSMA. Moreover, Westfood Hau Giang Factory haa 4-times the capacity of a sister facility in Can Tho City and is highly automated in all stages of operations, from production and inputting to logistics.
This investment will enable Westfood to create many new product lines of high-quality standards in addition to existing items to meet the increasing demands of international customers. This is also a premise for Westfood to research and develop product lines in the domestic market.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, President of the Board of Directors and General Director of Westfood, said that to realize the goal of making Westfood a leading agricultural processor in Vietnam, beside expanding raw material areas, this project is intended for mass production of ready-to-eat products.
Furthermore, Westfood Hau Giang Factory will help develop the province's agriculture, complete the agricultural production value chain, convert low-yielding plant varieties to other varieties with higher productivity to increase incomes for local farmers.
With 30 years of business experience, Westfood is affirming its position in the global agricultural product market valued nearly US$8 trillion a year. Up to now, Westfood products have been exported to many countries around the world such as the United States, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Japan, South Korea and Australia. The company’s customers are mainly big corporations and industrial food processors like Dole, Aeon, Atlanta and Port Royal.
