In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic caused many difficulties for industrial production, import-export, trade, and service activities in Thai Nguyen province. However, under the leadership and firm direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee, along with the solidarity and efforts of all levels, branches and business community, Thai Nguyen Industry and Trade successfully completed assigned tasks.
Last year, the total industrial production value in the area reached VND840,822 billion, up 7.3%. The total retail sales and consumer service revenue reached VND44,023 billion, an increase of 10% compared to the 2020 estimate. In which, local exports reached US$525 million, up 9%.
In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade has continued to maintain and develop websites and e-commerce trading floors to support electronic transactions; and accompany, support and remove difficulties in connecting product consumption for units and businesses due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department also helped implement activities to bring Vietnamese goods to the countryside, and promote Vietnamese people using Vietnamese goods. The Department has also effectively used industrial promotion funds, completing 30 industrial promotion and industrial development consulting projects with a total cost of nearly 6 billion VND. The administrative reform of the Department is always in the group of leading departments and branches in the province, creating the trust of production and business establishments and enterprises.
In 2022, the Department of Industry and Trade sets a number of key targets such as Industrial production value will reach VND920 trillion; total retail sales of consumer goods and services will reach VND50,360 billion; the export value will reach more than US$32 billion, of which local export will be increased by 9%. The Department will implement diversified and effective activities of trade promotion, industrial promotion and industrial development consulting. It will also organize effective management and guide the correct implementation of the orientations, programs, schemes and plans of the industry that have been developed; towards the target of Thai Nguyen Provincial Planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
Over the past year, the government system and the business and business community have had to strain to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade has proposed many solutions to continue to remove difficulties, support businesses, promote economic growth, improve the business investment environment, and enhance the Provincial competitiveness index (PCI). The Department has well promoted its role as an advisory body to the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial PCI Steering Committee in improving the component index "Business support services".
In which, the Department will focus on improving the basic indicators "Proportion of service providers to total number of enterprises", "Proportion of private and FDI service providers to the total number of service-providing enterprises", “the number of trade fairs organized by the province in the year”, “enterprises that have used the service of searching for market information”, “enterprises that have used legal consulting services", "enterprises that have used the service of finding business partners", " enterprises that have used trade promotion services", and "enterprises that have used technology-related services (%).”
