Efforts to Ensure Project Progress and Quality

Bac Lieu Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Unit (PMU) is a public service unit under the Provincial People's Committee. PMU invests in State-funded civil and industrial projects, carries out urban development investment projects and specialized industrial projects allocated by investors in Bac Lieu province, and coordinates with competent agencies to conduct land compensation, site clearance and resettlement for projects assigned to it.

Bac Lieu province's sports complex is expected to be completed and put into operation by Bac Lieu Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Unit by the end of 2024

The technical infrastructure of Bac Lieu province has changed dramatically. Many completed and operational construction investment projects have positively helped local economic - cultural - social development. In particular, Bac Lieu PMU has invested in key projects, completed them on schedule with guaranteed quality and high work performance.

Typically, Bac Lieu PMU invested in building many new high schools and colleges for education and training in the province: Solidifying preschool and elementary classrooms; renovating and upgrading Gia Rai High School, Bac Lieu High School, Vo Van Kiet High School, Ngan Dua High School, Vinh Binh High School, Ethnic Boarding High School, Economic - Technical College and Vocational College; upgrading, renovating and building hospitals and clinics to meet medical examination and treatment needs of the people like upgrading and renovating Bac Lieu General Hospital (Phase 1 and Phase 2), building Mental Hospital, inpatient and outpatient examination and treatment areas, and local clinics; building cultural works and technical infrastructure for effective sociocultural development in the province like Hung Vuong Square, Cao Van Lau Theater, infrastructure for Nha Mat - Cai Cung ecotourism route, infrastructure for the provincial administrative center, and resettlement areas; and building rural electricity supply from the national grid in districts to better serve people’s demands.

Currently, Bac Lieu PMU is implementing over 20 projects, including some key projects like building a fitness and sports complex with an 8,000-seat stadium for physical training and sporting activities; building and renovating 20 commune-level clinics; improving and developing facilities at Bac Lieu University; building Bac Lieu High School for the Gifted - Campus 2 (Phase 2); building Phan Ngoc Hien High School; building Bac Lieu General Hospital (Phase 3).

To successfully realize socioeconomic development goals and tasks in 2023 and beyond, Bac Lieu PMU will focus on effectively investing in projects assigned by the Provincial People's Committee with guaranteed schedule, quality and handover to bring them into early operation and high performance. The agency will pay attention to selecting contractors, ensure regulatory compliance, fairness and transparency to pick up competent and reputable contractors to carry out bidding packages in the best manner. In particular, it will concentrate on speeding up the disbursement of its allotted public investment fund to ensure good results.

In particular, Bac Lieu PMU will accelerate its projects from now until the end of 2024 to complete, hand over and operate several projects like building Le Van Dau High School (Phase 2); renovating and upgrading Bac Lieu High School for the Gifted (Campus 1); building Bac Lieu Fitness and Sports Complex; building cremation facilities for Khmer people at Cai Gia Chot Pagoda, Hung Hoi commune, Vinh Loi district; and repairing martyrs cemeteries in Gia Rai town.

At the same time, the agency will actively complete construction investment procedures to commence construction on new important projects such as Bac Lieu General Hospital (Phase 3), four district medical centers, Bac Lieu Social Protection Center (Phase 2), Bac Lieu Continuing Education - Career Counseling Center, and 13 power lines in Bac Lieu City. Doing so, Bac Lieu PMU will help boost local socioeconomic development quickly and sustainably to become a relatively developed province in the country by 2030.

For five consecutive years from 2017 - 2021, Bac Lieu PMU was always awarded emulation flags or certificates of merit by the Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People’s Committee for successful task performance. In addition, the agency was awarded the certificate of appreciation by the committee for outstanding achievements in 25-year Bac Lieu construction.

In 2018, Bac Lieu PMU was honored with an emulation flag by the Prime Minister for its successful task performance. At the same time, Party building was always paid special attention by the Party Committee of Bac Lieu PMU to effectively complete its political tasks. It was highly appreciated by the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Bac Lieu Agencies and annually rated to have better or excellent task performance. The unit was also ranked outstanding in task performance by the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Bac Lieu Agencies.
