Following up on potentials and advantages
Dak Song district was established under Decree 30/2001/ND-CP dated June 21, 2001 of the Government on merging 3 communes of Dak Mil district and 2 communes of former Dak Nong district. It is located in the West of Dak Nong province, with a total natural area of over 80,000 hectares.
Situated on the side of National Highway 14, Dak Song is a convenient location for economic - cultural - social exchanges between the Central Highlands provinces and connecting the Central Highlands with the North Central and the Southeast region. Dak Song’s topography is divided into 3 main forms and each has different potentials and strengths. Specifically, there are small and narrow streams valleys which is adequate to grow wet rice and crops and develop homestay tourism, medium low hilly terrain suitable for growing such perennial industrial crops as coffee, pepper, rubber, and high mountainous terrain suitable for forestry development.
Dak Song is evaluated as having a high proportion of agriculture in the economy. However, in recent years, the economic structure has been shifted towards reducing the proportion of agriculture and increasing the proportion of industry, construction and service sectors. Thanks to the wave of investment, the district's industrial production and trade in services and tourism have grown strongly, helping it to reach the average annual economic growth rate of 11%.
The Dak Song's positive economic performance has improved the strength of agriculture. Agricultural production in the district has been developing in the right direction, in accordance with the trend of investment in sustainable and high-yield agricultural development.
With the advantage of growing pepper, coffee, fruits and vegetables, Dak Song district has issued a Resolution on sustainable pepper development in 2020-2025, with a vision to 2030. The district has also planned to develop safe vegetable production areas to supply domestic and foreign markets. Industrial crops are being developed in the direction of high productivity and efficient cultivation, gradually replacing inefficient crops.
At present, Dak Song continues to pay attention to agricultural value chain development, calling for investment in building product processing lines and developing raw material areas. The district is building and developing a sustainable pepper value chain, initially bringing great prospects. Up to now, the pepper output has reached over 33,000 tons/year, equaling 122% compared to the same period in 2020. The coffee output has reached over 56,000 tons/year, equaling 110% compared to the same period in 2020.
Mr. Ngo Duc Trong, Chairman of Dak Song District People's Committee said: In the coming time, the district aims to successfully implement the "three focuses" strategy: Focus on building and rectifying the Party and political system into purity and strength; Focus on developing high-tech safe agriculture, calling for investment in renewable energy; and Focus on meeting new rural standards.

According to Dak Song District People's Committee, up to now, the district has 335 companies and enterprises operating in many fields, 35 cooperatives, 2 cooperative groups and more than 3,400 business, service and commercial establishments. Strong investment attraction and effective business development have contributed to creating sustainable budget revenue for the locality. In 2022, the total budget revenue of the district reached VND 217 billion, equaling 152% compared to 2020 (an average increase of 12%/year).
Not only has the number of businesses increased, but the quality of businesses has also increased. In Dak Song district, many businesses and capable investors have been implementing many large-scale investment projects, typically Dak Nung 1-2-3 wind power projects, Nam Binh 2 wind power project, Dak Ha wind power project, fruit and vegetable processing factory project in Thuan Ha commune, food processing factory project in Truong Xuan commune.
Along with that, many large investors have been currently surveying and completing investment policies to implement such projects as the bauxite project of Hoa Phat Group, the agricultural production project of Duc Giang Chemical Group, the housing, hotel and golf course project in Nam Giang commune, the wind energy and tourism project in Luu Ly waterfall area, and Truc Lam Zen Monastery project in Nam Giang Commune.
The successful attraction of many agricultural, industrial and tourism projects, especially wind power projects, has helped create more jobs for workers and upgrade infrastructure, contributing to restructuring the economy and increasing budget revenue.
Being aware of the role of enterprises, Mr. Ngo Duc Trong said, on the basis of documents of the central and provincial governments, Dak Song district has directed agencies, departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and townships to actively and effectively support businesses and investors to overcome difficulties.
“In the coming time, the district will implement many solutions to support businesses, cooperatives, and business households, focusing on creating an open investment environment and favorable conditions for businesses in the long term, and applying policies to support businesses to access the market and build brands", added Mr. Ngo Duc Trong.
Thanks to its large fertile land area, innovative mindset, drastic direction of the goverment, efforts to strive of the people and the companionship of the business community, Dak Song province has risen day by day, becoming a foundation for comprehensive and sustainable development towards industrialization and modernization.
