After being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism services at Da Nang beaches are recovering rapidly. In an interview granted to Vietnam Business Forum, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu, Director of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches, said that the board aims to turn Da Nang beaches into a "safe, cultured and attractive" destination in 2022.

Assigned to manage local beaches, how has the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches played its role?

The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches has promoted its managerial role by developing and promulgating management plans for local beaches, management regulations for local beaches, and commitments to business individuals and entities. The board formulated and launched Man Thai - Tho Quang Community Tourism Project, coordinated with localities to carry out Nam O Community Tourism Project, and provided services at My An Night Beach Area.

In response to impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic, what specific measures and activities has the Management Board taken to prevent the epidemic and help restore tourism activity?

In recent years, the COVID-19 epidemic has not only wrecked activities of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches, but also exerted a heavy impact on the whole city. The board has strengthened communications on the city's policy, and flexibly guided beach service providers to appropriately apply workable epidemic prevention measures. It has made communications on loudspeakers, websites and fanpages, informing people and tourists to adhere to epidemic prevention policies. Besides, because local enterprises did not work for a long time when beaches were closed, infrastructure and business facilities were degraded. Faced with this reality, the agency continued to maintain activities to ensure environmental sanitation, security and order, coordinate and support service providers to repair business items for reopening operations.

What advice and solutions did the board have to maintain operations and support organizations and individuals doing business at the beaches?

In response to the COVID-19 epidemic, to maintain operations and support organizations and individuals doing business at the beach, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches has worked with local authorities to propose a list of support for enterprises, based on the city’s policy. At the same time, it has coordinated with the Department of Finance and relevant bodies to guide organizations and individuals who are renting coastal freshwater bathing areas and parking lots to carry out procedures for rent exemption and reduction of coastal freshwater bathing areas and parking lots affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.

At the same time, to stimulate tourism demand, attract tourists and improve business performance, the board has strengthened communications on and promotion of tourism products at Da Nang beaches; and proposed forming new tourism products and services at My An Night Beach to woo visitors and boost the image of maritime tourism.

Currently, tourism activity is gradually recovering. Could you please tell us about key tasks and solutions that the board put forth for 2022?

Currently, to serve tourists again, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beaches has stepped up rescue, security and order, environmental sanitation, and upgraded beach service facilities.

In particular, carrying out the city's policy on night economy, the board completed and operated My An Night Beach with new services such as massage therapy services, food trucks, decorative spots, cinema on the beach, art performance stages and beach check-ins. Activities at My An Night Beach will be piloted in two years and open around the clock. In addition, during the latest public holiday, Victory Day and May Day, the board launched the "Opening the Da Nang sea tourism season” program in 2022 with diverse and attractive activities.

In 2022, the board aimed to turn Da Nang beaches into a "safe, cultured and attractive" destination and focus on developing more marine tourism products for domestic and foreign tourists.

Thank you very much!
