Ms. Tran Thi Lan Phuong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Lieu province, said that from the beginning of 2023 until now, with the province's synchronous and firm direction, the tourism sector has shown signs of strong recovery.

In the first nine months of 2023, tourism service revenue is estimated to reach about VND3,136 billion, reaching 88% of the year plan and up 30% over the same period in 2022. Of which, hotel and restaurant revenue is estimated at VND1,185 billion, reaching 87% of the year plan and up 46% over the same period. The total number of domestic tourists reached about 3.6 million, reaching 87% of the year plan and up 29% year on year, including 1.4 million tourists who used accommodation services, up 34% year on year. Bac Lieu also welcomed 82,340 international visitors. Tourism has affirmed its role as one of the five pillars of the socio-economic development of the province.

Tourism products have become increasingly diverse. Up to now, the whole province has 11 typical tourist destinations of the Mekong Delta - the most compared to localities in the region. Many destinations have become popular spots for tourists, especially seaside wind power farms and religious sites. Tourism connections between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region have obtained effective results.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Lan Phuong, Bac Lieu's tourism industry continues to enhance its connection with other tourism centers in the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City, and the whole country to promote brand building and competitiveness, as well as meet the diverse needs of tourists. The province continues to focus on innovating and improving the professionalism and quality of its unique and distinctive tourism products, developing more regional tourism products; enhancing the exploitation of tourism services, propagating and promoting typical tourism products; investing in tourism infrastructure construction; encouraging businesses to upgrade existing tourism facilities and deploy new tourism projects, contributing to tourism development in the province.

Bac Lieu has also paid special attention to effectively exploit local tangible and intangible cultural values in tourism development; improve the quality and effectiveness of cultural activities and the movement "All people unite to build cultural life"; strengthen cultural exchange activities; and regularly host regional and national cultural and sporting events.

To proactively adapt to economic fluctuations, Bac Lieu has increasingly attracted social resources to invest in technical facilities and transport infrastructure, especially in key areas. The province has continued to encourage strategic investors to invest in high-class complex tourist service areas.

A number of tourism projects in the province have come into operation such as the New Palace Hotel, Tran Vinh Hotel, Nha Mat eco-tourism area and Hoa Binh 1 wind power eco-tourism area. In particular, Vingroup has carried out the Vincom Shophouse Bac Lieu project, a complex of commercial centers, hotels and townhouses with neoclassical architecture. The complex has contributed to improving the urban landscape of Bac Lieu City, creating a new look for the province and promoting tourism service and socioeconomic development.

Bac Lieu province has also focused on developing specific and different tourism products to enhance the brand and competitiveness of Bac Lieu tourism, such as cultural tourism associated with the immortal value of Da Co Hoai Lang and Don ca tai tu (southern folk music); tourism products associated with the anecdote about Bac Lieu Dude; spiritual cultural tourism products; green tourism products; and traditional and high-tech agricultural tourism products. The province has continued to preserve and promote the value of ranked historical and cultural relics, as well as cultural and ancient architecture, to build tourist products that attract tourists.
