“Bringing a stable income for farmers and creating stable jobs for rural people” is the mission and goal of An Giang Fruit-Vegetables & Foodstuff Joint Stock Company (ANTESCO) during its 47-year development history, growing from a state-owned supplier of agricultural technical services to a giant producer and trader of fruits, vegetables and foodstuffs. Our reporter has an interview with Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, General Director of ANTESCO, on its business development. Quoc Hung reports.

ANTESCO is a fairly familiar brand for domestic consumers and in export markets with a range of highly nutritional fruit and vegetable products. Could you please tell us about the company’s current business performance?

ANTESCO, established in 1975, is now one of leading producers, processors and exporters of fruits and vegetables. In 2022, ANTESCO is forecast to be the largest agricultural processor in the Southwest region with 25,000 tons of exported products. The company’s products are manufactured on modern production lines and met with world standards for processed agricultural products such as ISO 22000, SEDEX, BRC FOODS, GLOBAL GAP, KOSHER, HALAL, and FDA.

Besides, ANTESCO planned and built GlobalGAP-standard material areas to produce baby corn, soybeans, vegetables, mango, dragon fruits and passion fruits. Its main export markets include the United States, Japan, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, Taiwan and Shanghai - China.

Epidemic and market movements disturbed companies. What made ANTESCO keep standing and developing?

In business, ANTESCO always receives care and support from local authorities, particularly the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies of An Giang province. In addition, we are staffed by dedicated, skilled, and loyal employees. Particularly, the dynamic leadership has built a working business strategy for the company, thereby creating trust and prestige in both the input market and the output market. Those are the driving forces for the company to overcome difficulties and develop into what it is today.

Faced with both opportunities and challenges of the market as now, what strategy has ANTESCO built for itself?

We worked out a development strategy to 2025 with key orientations: Focusing on expansion investment and development; stabilizing traditional markets; penetrating, developing and expanding potential markets and customers; improving and expanding new value-added products; strengthening cooperation with partners and peers to reduce competitive pressures; and developing safe and sustainable input areas.

“ANTESCO gives stable incomes for farmers and creates stable jobs for rural people.” How well has this mission fared?

In the past 47 years of construction and development, ANTESCO has made positive contributions to local socioeconomic development. The company has actively taken part in supporting social activities in areas where its factories are located; constantly increased its contribution to local budget revenue; and generated stable jobs and increased annual income for over 600 local workers.

With the mission "ANTESCO brings stable income to farmers and creates stable jobs for rural people", the company has generated jobs and stable incomes for over 2,000 rural workers in An Giang province. Baby corn and cows in Cho Moi district (from ANTESCO factory in My An commune) that bring high economic value today are a great effort of ANTESCO.

In the coming time, the company will continue to apply international standards on environmental and social responsibility; pay more attention to building corporate culture; and especially invest in expanding input areas in order to help generate jobs and stable incomes for farmers.

Thank you very much!
