Actively Unlocking Tourism Potential

With its available advantages and potential, Nghe An has great opportunities for sustainable tourism development. Currently, the province is promoting tourism activities, diversifying services and creating unique tourism products to attract a large number of visitors.

Nghe An's tourism resources are diverse and abundant, from marine tourism, and eco-tourism to cultural tourism. The province has 82 km of coastline and many attractive beaches. Two-thirds of the province’s land area is covered with forests, dotted by many caves and waterfalls. Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve is one of the six largest such regions in the world with primary forest and many rare animal species. In addition, Nghe An is also home to more than 2,000 relics and scenic spots, of which 413 are ranked national and provincial relics, 4 are recognized as National special cultural and historical relics including Kim Lien Nam Dan, landmark number 0, Phan Boi Chau memorial area and Hoanh Son communal house.

To tap these potential sites, over the years, the province has stepped up tourism promotion in an intensive and professional manner. The province has opened and put into use the tourism portal and smart tourism application on mobile devices. Besides, the province has encouraged cooperation with major tourism corporations to enhance quality tourism activities and products.

In addition, Nghe An is also actively implementing tourism investment projects to soon put them into operation. Some typical projects include "Development of tourism infrastructure to support the comprehensive growth of the Greater Mekong sub-region, phase 2", “Complex of an amusement park and resort villas Vinpearl Cua Hoi (phase 2)”, and “Ecotourism and entertainment complex project in Nghi Tien commune, Nghi Loc district”.

The province has also focused on renewing and building tourism products. It has launched many new and attractive tourism products such as "Kayak boating - walking, climbing and mountain biking at Pha Lai Dam, Con Cuong district" and "Discovering Puxailaileng peak in Ky Son district". The province has completed community and eco-tourism models supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF Project).

As of December 30, 2021, Nghe An had 885 tourist establishments with 20,080 rooms, including 2 5-star hotels, 8 4-star hotels, and 18 3-star hotels. In 2021, the total number of tourists to Nghe An reached 54%; tourism revenue reached 43% as compared to 2020.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of Nghe An Department of Tourism, said that in the socio-economic development strategy, the province identifies tourism as a spearhead economic sector with priority investment to make it the "Tourism Center of the North Central region". In 2022, the province strives to welcome and serve 3.6 million tourists, an increase of 91% compared to 2021. Tourism service revenue strives to reach VND3,000 billion, up 169%.

To achieve this goal, in addition to tourism promotion, the province will focus on training and fostering human resources, applying information technology and digital transformation. “In the coming time, Nghe An hopes to continue promoting cooperation for tourism development to create momentum for the coming years. The province is committed to always creating all favorable conditions for hospitality businesses," said Director of the Department of Tourism Nguyen Manh Cuong.
