The French Development Agency (AFD) has agreed to finance a water plant in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre as part of an effort to help people in the Mekong Delta have access to safe water.
The EUR6.44-million water plant credit in Ben Tre is part of a EUR32 million programme funded by AFD on urban water supply for six Mekong Delta provinces of An Giang, Dong Thap, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Can Tho and Ben Tre. The credit to Ben Tre bears annual interest of 5 per cent in 15 years. With this loan, the Ben Tre Water Supply and Drainage Co., Ltd, the investor, will build a water supply plant in Chau Thanh district with a daily capacity of 15,000 cubic metres.
