Phu Tho: Boosting Investment Attraction, Socioeconomic Development

The strong trends of cooperation, development and globalisation; “open” economic policy, multilateral foreign policy and active international integration, expanding cooperation ties with other countries in the world, have opened up new opportunities for investment attraction in general and FDI attraction of Phu Tho province in particular. Three groundbreaking stages for the province in the coming time will be key infrastructure investment, human resource training, and tourism development, aimed to make Phu Tho an industrial province in 2020.

Following that trend, Phu Tho province with an increasingly improved investment environment, has gradually perfected investment policy, positively invested in infrastructure systems, and accelerated administrative procedure reform to attract a lot of investment capital, including FDI, to serve local socioeconomic development.

Infrastructure has been rapidly upgraded. The province is working with central authorities to speed up the progress of key infrastructure projects like Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, Ho Chi Minh Road, bridges spanning the Red, Lo and Da rivers, National Road 2 (Vinh Yen - Viet Tri section), Hanoi - Lao Cai Railway, the new Viet Tri Bridge, and Viet Tri - Tuyen Quang riverway.

In the first 9 months of 2014, the province licensed 26 projects, including six FDI projects with US$11.4 million and 20 domestic investment projects with VND2,348 billion (US$105 million). Licensed projects disbursed VND667 billion in the period. Some projects were sped up to go into operation in early 2015 as scheduled, including a VND1,135 billion high-grade tile factory with an annual output of 20 million square metres and a US$40 million electronic component plant invested by Namuaga Company.

Phu Tho is committed to creating the most favourable conditions for domestic and foreign investors to do business and offering the most preferential treatments to them.
