Lai Chau Achieving and Exceeding Most Targets for Industrial and Commercial Development

Although the local and national economic situation still sees many difficulties, most of the industrial and commercial development indicators in Lai Chau have reached and surpassed those in 2016. Remarkably, the value of industrial production has reached VND4,343 billion, up 11.2 percent. There has been stable trade, diversified goods, price stability and increased purchasing power.

To promote the industrial and commercial sector of the province to develop strongly and at the same time stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit of youth in the field of industry and trade to exploit the local strengths, develop new products, seek expansion of market, the industry has advised and implemented many important solutions.

Specifically, Lai Chau Department of Industry and Trade has reviewed sector plans and adjusted them in line with the province's socio-economic development master plan to 2020. Along with that, the Department also has consulted with other agencies to implement projects, plans and programs for industrial and commercial development. In addition, the leaders of the Department pay great attention to the implementation of administrative procedure reform, frequently direct the review to find the cumbersome, complicated, overlapping regulations and procedures, then propose to the Ministry of Industry and Trade or the provincial People's Committee to simplify plans on the composition of the file, the order of implementation, how to implement, time, charges, fees, and forms of declaration. In the implementation of administrative procedure reform, the Department is stepping up the application of information technology to management. From July 2016 to now, the Department has provided 21 online level 3 services under the jurisdiction of the Department at the address http://dichvucong.laichau.gov.vn which allows users to fill in and send information online to the Department of Industry and Trade.

Through supporting activities such as industry promotion programs and trade promotion, the industry has supported rural industrial establishments to apply advanced technologies and vocational training for labourers, thereby improving models, improve the quality and competitiveness of products on the market to take part in trade fairs, to create conditions for units to expand their relationships, study others' experience, seek investment partners and expand the market.

In order to ensure healthy competition for production and business organizations and individuals, the Department shall intensify the work of inspection and examination, market management and the smuggling of fake and counterfeit goods in business, copyright infringement and trade fraud.

In 2018, the hinge of the 2016-2021 term, Lai Chau Industry and Trade will continue to focus on advising the province to attract investors to participate in the construction of technical infrastructure of the area and industrial clusters which have been planning, guiding and supporting enterprises to formulate strategies and plans for sustainable production and business in the long term.
