Thua Thien Hue province is located in the Central Key Economic Zone, with specific conditions of geography, economy, culture, society and environment. So, sustainable economic development is always an important goal of the province.
In the 2021 - 2025 period, the province has advocated green, sustainable industrial development by tapping potential and strengths of local raw materials, natural resources and high-quality human resources, enhancing efficient use of raw materials and protecting the environment; fostered high-tech application to raise added value of products and improve industrial productivity and competitiveness. The province has focused on prioritizing industrial formation and development with sectoral strengths and competitive advantages like supporting industries for textile and garment industry, energy industry, automobile manufacturing and assembling industry, deep processing industry and silicate (quartz) processing, information technology and software industry; pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment.
To make industry a growth engine of Thua Thien Hue's economy, in the 2021 - 2025 term, the industry and trade sector of Thua Thien Hue province has set a number of development indicators such as industrial growth of 14.5-15% and the share of industry and construction to GRDP at 38-39% by 2025.
To realize the above objectives, the sector proposed several recommendations and solutions for industrial development in the coming period.
First, building and perfecting industrial development policies; reviewing, adjusting and supplementing regulations, perfecting the business environment, simplifying and publicizing administrative procedures, carrying out administrative procedures at the single-window divisions, especially those relating to the industrial sector; speeding up relocation of production facilities in residential areas into industrial zones and boosting rural industrial development.
Second, speeding up investment promotion and attraction for industries, particularly development-prioritized ones; reviewing and listing key industrial investment projects seeking to draw investment funds to 2025, with focus placed on prioritized industries such as supporting industries for textile and garment industry, pharmaceutical industry, and medical equipment industry.
Third, improving industrial productivity, quality and added value: Encouraging enterprises to apply advanced production systems and cutting-edge technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to agricultural production, coupling industrial production with environmental protection, economical and efficient use of resources and energy in industrial production; supporting enterprises to participate in domestic, regional and international production value chains to enhance added value and export value.
Fourth, concentrating resources to support investment in completing technical infrastructure of industrial zones: Facilitating and urging infrastructure investors to accelerate the investment progress of Phu Bai, Phong Dien, La Son and Tu Ha industrial parks; prioritizing concentrated budget resources for infrastructure investment in industrial zones (order of priority according to urgency); taking advantage of centrally supported budget to invest in industrial infrastructure, with focus on essential items such as centralized wastewater treatment plants, ground leveling and service for investment projects.
Fifth, focusing on developing quality human resources to meet industrial production development needs; carrying out high-quality human resources development plans, in which priority is given to developing human resources for the industry; promoting the introduction of opening more training professions or cooperating with universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to train high-tech human resources.
