Nam Dinh province has 62 products recognized as provincial OCOP products, one of which is nominated for national certification (5-star ranking) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The announcement is expected to be held at the end of 2020.
Mr. Tran Xuan Lai, Director of Nam Dinh Provincial Agency for Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Quality, said, 95% of food producers and processors, 100% of managers and 80% of consumers have knowledge and proper practice of food safety. The quality management system of agricultural products ensures the specific responsibility of stakeholders from province to district and commune. Over 90% of purchasers and processors of agricultural and aquatic products have applied advanced quality control standards like GMP, HACCP and ISO 22000. 10.33% of producers have applied VietGAP, organic agriculture and high-tech agriculture. “Therefore, product quality and food safety management of local agricultural products has been highly appreciated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,” he said.
According to the Nam Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the coming time, the agricultural sector will continue to successfully restructure agriculture by increasing added value and sustaining development. By 2025, the sector will strive to have 50 local product chains and accelerate the strong deployment of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program to have 300 OCOP products ranked 3 stars or higher.
