In 2017, when the first bricks were laid to build Hoa Hao - Medic Can Tho General Hospital, the big dream of the most modern medical center in the Mekong Delta became a reality. After 6 years of development, with outstanding criteria in human resources, facilities, medical equipment and outstanding service quality, the hospital has become the place of choice for medical examination and treatment for the local people.

To well serve the needs of comprehensive medical examination and treatment, in addition to shaping and perfecting the hospital's organizational structure from the leadership team (Board of Directors, Board of Managers) to functional departments (Department of General Planning - Quality Management, Department of Administrative Organization and Management, Department of Finance and Accounting, Department of Nursing - Infection Control) and Clinical and Paraclinical Departments, the hospital also implements and puts into operation a system of clinics with a full range of specialties such as: General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Dermatology, Obstetrics - Gynecology, Pediatrics Departments, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, and Maxillofacial Surgery. With the current human resources and facilities, the Hospital receives from 800 to 1,000 visits every day. On average the hospital welcomes over 14,000 visits each month for examination, consultation and treatment, of which 50% of customers are from Mekong Delta provinces such as: Vinh Long, Soc Trang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, An Giang and Kien Giang. After 6 years of operation, the Hospital has provided examination and treatment services for 1,019,526 visits (of which, health insurance patients accounting for 64%), including emergency treatment: 18,138 visits; Inpatient treatment: 3,199 visits; Medical examination upon request: 40,565 visits; Health examination for agencies, units and individuals: 80,131 visits. The hospital also performed surgery for 80 thousand cases. Many serious medical cases were promptly detected and treated such as: myocardial infarction, cerebral stroke, pulmonary embolism, etc. No serious professional incidents have occurred. The hospital has also implemented 4,686,638 paraclinical tests and 956,285 imaging diagnosis – Functional exploration tests (Ultrasound: 468,775 times; CT-Scan: 28,692 times; MRI: 26,223 times).

Mentioning Hoa Hao - Medic Can Tho General Hospital, we also refer to the “Military and Civilian Tet” program initiated by Major General Vu Cao Quan - Former Commander - Ministry of Military Affairs of Can Tho city - Member of the Board of Directors; the medical examination trips to remote localities at home and abroad; the program of building homes for comrades, and scholarships for students. Over the past 5 years, the hospital has organized more than free 80 medical examinations, given gifts, donated scholarships, built solidarity houses for veterans, policy families, and poor households in the country, and 03 charity medical examinations in Cambodia with a total cost of over 26 billion VND and reduced hospital fees for staff and the poor by over 1.2 billion VND.

With positive contributions in epidemic prevention, social security work in the locality and Cambodia, in 2019, the hospital and Major General Vu Cao Quan were honored to be awarded the Great Military Order of Friendship by the Royal Family of Cambodia (Monisarapon mahaserayvuth), 33 certificates of merit from the People's Committees of the Mekong Delta provinces; especially the Certificate of Merit "For contributions in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, contributing to the cause of building Socialism and protecting the Fatherland" from the Prime Minister in 2022.
